CLICK INTO THE DIVINE - EMBRACE SOLACE ENDURING BRILLIANCE 2024
What does it mean to click into the divine?
Many people already know that I practice every day because I was always making up for lost time. I thought either you went to Art school and were an “artist” or you weren’t. I thought people had magic powers in art and I still do think a few might. I also think that some people were in the right place at the right time and we’re exposed to art so that they had the opportunity to develop if in fact they had an interest. With my parents working six days a week coming from Europe they were just trying to survive . They just didn’t know I had an interest in art, music and dance. Fine Art and aspects of culture were not part of my life. That said, my father always listen to classical music and I loved that and I love that my mother could make something out of nothing, like a dress out of a pattern . I even remember the Butterick patterns . More importantly I remember that even with a plan Marie could accommodate the desire of the garment and somewhere I stash that in my subconscious. The same way that when I watched my father make a handbag in his basement atelier while we still lived in Europe , I was always amazed that out of a piece of brown craft paper he would design a template that would become a pocketbook.
I didn’t realize that these experiences and memories would sift into a deeper subconscious that did not emerge until I was in my 60s. when Art found me. I realized that if I just kept going like they did , just kept going , trying and sticking to it with a daily practice perhaps something magical would show up. In my experience that doesn’t happen very often that I’m in the zone . More and more I find that I’ve clicked into some space and time where a painting “paints itself” I can step back and watch magic. I think oh it needs this so maybe I’ll try that and it when it all comes together I’m elated . It’s an addiction . I wish that everyone could have that experience of the divine in their art journey. At no time am I referring to anything religious. I’m referring to the spirit of nature that shows up in my paintings , the atmospheric perspective that suddenly appears, the colors that seem to somehow harmonize , the visual poetry that allows the viewer to experience the emotion that I feel as I paint . Painting for me is a very solitary activity that I enjoy fully. I will always be a student .
i have studied and learned from others yeti believe one has to be at the easel for fruition.
